A Hierarchy of Muay Thai Equipment Brands

Figuring out what type of Muay Thai equipment to buy is hard, more so if you have no idea about which brands are good and which are not. With so many awesome brands to choose from, such as Top King, Fairtex, Yokkao, and so on, choosing won’t be as easy.

Below is a quick, but detailed breakdown of all the famous Muay Thai equipment brands, and which ones are considered the best and worth the money.

  1. Top King – From hand wraps, to boxing gloves, to shin guards, and pretty much, any Muay Thai equipment you can think of, Top King has it. Not only that, but they’re one of the best and most reputable Muay Thai equipment companies out there.

  1. Fairtex – Almost as reputed as Top King is Fairtex, which is considered by many enthusiasts as the Rolls Royce of Muay Thai equipment. Although commonly believed to be a US brand, the company’s lone factory is actually in Bang Plee, which is located just outside of Bangkok. Regardless, their product range is huge and the quality is just splendid.

  1. Twins – Twins is perhaps the best known manufacturer of Muay Thai equipment, especially among enthusiasts. While the quality isn’t exactly any better than that of Top King and Fairtex, Twins boast a large product range with innovative designs and colors. If you’re looking for something more flashy, the Twins equipment are probably for you. The only caveat is that the prices can be quite expensive, especially for Thai standards. Still, if you’re looking for gear with fresh and colourful designs, you won’t go wrong with Twins products.
  1. Muaythai – Established around 40 years ago, Muaythai (yes, as in the same name as that of the sport itself) is virtually unknown to those outside of Thailand. However, don’t let that fool you, their gear is as good as any. Preferring to cater to the domestic market, Muaythai also does custom-made orders and is the only manufacturer that actually accepts orders by other brands. This basically means that some of the products sold by other brand names may have been made by this “obscure” brand. Their product range is quite large and up to date. They’re also quite affordable too and the quality is amazing. Everything is reportedly hand-made by a family of expert artists and the leather used is the best available. The only problem, though, is that the designs may be too basic to some. Muaythai is best for those who’re simply looking for something that’s good and works.

Now, there exactly is no single “best” brand out there. It all depends on your tastes, needs and of course, how much you’re willing to spend. But, if you’re looking for a safe investment and don’t mind your gear looking plain, you can’t go wrong with the Muaythai brand. Their products are some of the cheapest in the market, and yet are still as durable as the more expensive ones. Plus, they’ve got a wide range of products available to boot!

Regardless of which brand you choose to go for, though, what’s important is that you take the time to choose your Muay Thai Equipment properly so you don’t end up wasting money on stuff you won’t be using anyway.
